Over a 6month period SUDEL managed the conversion of majority of the field instruments and electrical devices in the Concentrator and the Hydromet plants from 110VAC to 24VDC to significantly reduce the chances of electric shock to the plant operators.
This work involved in changing all the field devices to 24VDC, installing new 24VDC PLC,s and / or putting interposing relays into the circuit of the existing 110VAC PLCs. Installing new 24VDC power supplies and distribution networks.
This was a challenging project with close cooperation from production to be able to shutdown sections of the plant to cut over to the new 24VDC control equipment with minimum disruption to the plant.
